OCEAN CONSERVATION ADMINISTRATION-FRIENDLY ANGLING

Taiwan is surrounded by the sea, and angling is one of the ways we connect with the ocean most directly. The Ocean Conservation Administration (OCA) has joined with Taipei University of Marine Technology to promote Friendly Angling, working with local governments and site management authorities to survey and improve angling spots across the country, and to secure venues that are legal, safe and comfortable. The initiative covers three areas: 1. Always wear a life jacket, non-slip shoes and other safety gear when angling. 2. We encourage anglers to submit catch reports and join the ranks of marine citizen scientists, keeping a record of every catch and contributing to the management of our marine resources. 3. Angling is a leisure activity. Release the small ones, keep the large ones only in moderation, and keep the photo, not the fish. Through Friendly Angling, we hope everyone can enjoy this healthy, rewarding and educational form of recreational angling.
